Müfit Kayacan — Biography

Müfit Kayacan is an actor and theatre director who moved from the stage to television. He became known across Turkey in 2010 as the face of TÜVTÜRK commercials, and in series he is remembered for Cumali Koçovalı (the uncle) in Çukur, Necdet in Aşk 101 and the uncle in Bartu Ben. More recently the character Ecmel in Uzak Şehir brought him renewed attention, and his social media posts have drawn notice too.

A graduate of Industrial Engineering at Çukurova University, he became a founder of the Antalya Metropolitan Municipality City Theatres, where he first took a role in 1983, and served as its general art director for 25 years. In that time he acted in 32 plays and directed 25; he also spent ten years as head of the municipality's cultural services department and helped create events such as the National High School Theatre Festival and the Likya Seyirlik Oyunlar Festival. He has also sat on the jury of the Golden Orange Film Festival.

His television career began with Kezban Yenge (2005), followed by Öyle Bir Geçer Zaman Ki, Eşkıya Dünyaya Hükümdar Olmaz, Aile Şirketi, Kaderimin Oyunu and Bir Peri Masalı. On film he appeared in Abluka, Kız Kardeşler and Görülmüştür. On stage he won the Best Director prize at the Mersin Golden Mask awards for Keşanlı Ali Destanı, and was nominated at the 2012 Afife Theatre Awards for playing Abdi in Kanlı Nigar.
