La raison du plus fou is a 1973 French comedy-drama directed by François Reichenbach. The screenplay was written by the celebrated comedian Raymond Devos, who also plays the leading role. The ensemble cast includes Marthe Keller, Robert Dalban, Lino Ventura, Jean Carmet, Andréa Ferréol, Pierre Richard, Alice Sapritch and Paul Préboist, among other well-known French performers of the period. The film opened in France on 28 March 1973 and runs for about ninety minutes. Built around Devos's distinctive verbal wit and finely tuned sense of humour, it stands as one of Reichenbach's feature works from the early 1970s.
