Tarzan of Manisa (Manisa Tarzanı)

Manisa Tarzanı ("Tarzan of Manisa") is a 1994 Turkish biographical drama directed by Orhan Oğuz. It is based on the story of Ahmet bin Carlak (1899-1963), a real figure remembered locally as the "Tarzan of Manisa" for his efforts to restore and protect nature around the region.

Set in the aftermath of the Turkish War of Independence, the film follows a mysterious stranger who arrives in a war-ravaged Manisa and takes on a relentless campaign to bring the land back to life. Talat Bulut leads the cast, with Nihat Nikerel also appearing.

The film was submitted as Turkey's entry for Best Foreign Language Film at the 67th Academy Awards but did not receive a nomination.
