Operation Dumbo Drop

Operation Dumbo Drop is a 1995 American war comedy directed by Simon Wincer. Set during the Vietnam War in 1968, it follows two Green Berets, Sam Cahill (Danny Glover) and T.C. Doyle (Ray Liotta), who set out to deliver an elephant named Bo-Tat to a South Vietnamese village whose cooperation helps American forces track Viet Cong movements. Hauling the animal across jungle terrain proves to be a logistical nightmare, and the mission ultimately leads to an audacious plan involving a parachute drop from the air. The screenplay by Gene Quintano and Jim Kouf draws on a true story recounted by U.S. Army Major Jim Morris. Denis Leary, Doug E. Doug and Corin Nemec appear in supporting roles. Released in the United States on July 28, 1995, the film earned roughly 25 million dollars at the domestic box office and met with mixed to negative reviews from critics.
