Come to My Voice (Sesime Gel)

Sesime Gel (Kurdish: Were Dengê Min; "Come to My Voice") is a Turkish-German-French drama directed and, together with Abidin Parıltı, co-written by Hüseyin Karabey. Running 105 minutes, it opened in theaters on December 5, 2014.

The story follows Berfe, a woman in her sixties raising her granddaughter Jiyan, whose desperate journey begins after her son — Jiyan's father, Temo — is detained over an alleged cache of weapons hidden in their village. The film blends the political tensions of 1990s Turkey with a fable-like narrative tone.
