Special Code: Assignment Lost Formula

Special Code: Assignment Lost Formula (originally Cifrato speciale) is a 1966 spy film co-produced by Italy, Spain and France and directed by Pino Mercanti. Written by Ernesto Gastaldi and Tonino Guerra, it belongs to the Eurospy wave that followed the international success of the Bond pictures, and stars Lang Jeffries in the lead role. The cast also includes José Greci, Erika Blanc, Helga Liné and Ignazio Leone. Although the story is set in Istanbul, the picture was shot almost entirely in Catalonia, whose locations stand in for the Turkish city. As with many genre entries of the period, the plot revolves around secret agents and the pursuit of a valuable lost formula, with the expected mix of intrigue, action and double-crossing.
