Vengeance

Vengeance (original Italian title Joko, invoca Dio... e muori) is a 1968 spaghetti western co-written and directed by Antonio Margheriti, produced as an Italian-West German co-production. Richard Harrison stars as Joko Barrett, an outlaw hunting the five men who betrayed him and his gang during a robbery. Distracted from the death of his psychotic accomplice Mendoza by the company of a traveling woman (Špela Rozin), Joko keeps pieces of the five ropes used to quarter his young recruit Richie (Alberto Dell'Acqua), returning one rope to each culprit before killing him. The film has been noted for bringing Gothic influences into the western genre, and is often regarded as one of Margheriti's stronger works, as well as a stepping stone toward his 1970 film And God Said to Cain.
