Zeynep Tedü — Biography

Zeynep Tedü, the daughter of stage and screen actors Suavi and Perihan Tedü, was born on 22 October 1943 in Istanbul and, after high school, graduated from the Milan Theatre School in Italy. She began her professional stage career in 1964 with the play "Bulvar" at the Dormen Theatre, and moved into cinema in 1965 with her first film, Bozuk Düzen, which was named best film at the Antalya Golden Orange Film Festival.

Through the 1960s and 1970s she took leading roles in films such as Aşk Eski Bir Yalan, Bülbül Yuvası, Kalbimin Efendisi, Seven Ne Yapmaz, Acımak, Ömrümce Unutamadım, Beklenen Şarkı, Çileli Dünya, Kara Osman and Bizim Köyün Zeynebi, and served as assistant director on Yumurcak Küçük Şahit. Over her career she performed with companies including Ali Poyrazoğlu Theatre, Dostlar Theatre and Ferhan Şensoy Theatre, and on television became known for her sketches on the long-running program Olacak O Kadar, as well as roles in Bugünün Saraylısı and Ayrılsak da Beraberiz.

She married and divorced actor Salih Güney, with whom she had a daughter, Ebru, and later married director and actor Genco Erkal, divorcing him in 1977; that marriage produced a daughter, Ayşe. She retired from the Istanbul State Theatres in 2000.
