Burçin Terzioğlu — Biography

Burçin Terzioğlu began acting at five and has worked for more than four decades, one of the few Turkish performers to move all the way from child actor to leading lady. Wide audiences know her as Azad Karaeski in Ezel, Ayşegül in Poyraz Karayel and journalist Leyla Devrim in Kurşun; in recent years she has appeared in productions such as Asaf and Ben Leman.

She grew up in a film family: her father is the actor Yılmaz Terzioğlu, her brother a director and her sister an actress. As a child she appeared in films such as Patron Duymasın and Çıplak Vatandaş and in series like Perihan Abla and Mahallenin Muhtarları, and trained at the Müjdat Gezen Art Center. Teen-years series Yılan Hikâyesi and Çiçek Taksi led to her adult breakthrough as Demet in Kadın İsterse, and Fırtına gave her a first lead. Ezel became the prestige turning point of her career, followed by Deniz in Merhamet. Poyraz Karayel won her the Golden Butterfly for best actress. Then came Netflix's first Turkish series Hakan: Muhafız, Kurşun, the film Güzelliğin Portresi, Hükümsüz and Yalancı.

In 2008 she married actor Murat Yıldırım, whom she met on the set of Fırtına; they divorced in 2014.
