Ezel

Ezel is a crime drama produced by Ay Yapım and directed by Uluç Bayraktar, with a script credited to Kerem Deren and Pınar Bulut. The plot centers on a young man set up and imprisoned by people closest to him, who resurfaces years later under a new identity to work his way back into his old circle and settle the score. The storyline draws on Alexandre Dumas' classic novel The Count of Monte Cristo. The show premiered on Show TV on September 28, 2009, later moved to atv, and closed out its two-season run there. Kenan İmirzalıoğlu and Cansu Dere led the cast, joined by Yiğit Özşener. Although the story unfolds in present-day Istanbul, portions were filmed in North Cyprus, Croatia and England. The series built a sizeable following during its broadcast and picked up nominations at several Turkish television award ceremonies.
