Caner Topçu — Biography

Caner Topçu moved from the theatre stage to the screen and became known for playing İlyas Reis in the historical drama Barbaroslar: Akdeniz'in Kılıcı and, above all, Kanat Günay in the teen series Duy Beni. Today he plays Barış in Aynadaki Yabancı, and before that he took the part of Özgür Tekin in Dönence.

His family is from Kastamonu; he completed his primary and secondary schooling in Istanbul and graduated from an industrial vocational high school. He took theatre lessons from Harun Özer and acting lessons from Fulya Filazi, and gained stage experience in plays such as Beyaz Cehennem, Dikkat İnternet Var, Sarıkamış and İnançtan Zafere. He first appeared in front of a camera in 2015, as Recep in Furkan Kopuz's film Bilinçsizler. In the following years he took part in the film Evrensel Döngü: Yaşam Ağacına Yolculuk, played the character Caner in the Show TV series Nöbet in 2019, and gave life to Deniz in the BluTV web series Hiç in 2021.

His real breakthrough came with Barbaroslar: Akdeniz'in Kılıcı, which began on TRT 1 in 2021; Duy Beni on Star TV reinforced that momentum in 2022, and the same year, on 3 October, he was named best breakthrough actor at the 26th Golden Objective Awards of the Magazine Journalists Association. In cinema he took the role of Cemil in the film Başka Türlü Aşk.
