Celal Al — Biography

Celal Al is the actor Turkish viewers know as Abdurrahman Alp and Abdurrahman Gazi. He played the same hero for years in Diriliş: Ertuğrul and Kuruluş: Osman, a role that made him recognised not only in Turkey but in many countries where the series aired. Interest in Pakistan has been especially notable, and he has drawn attention there through contacts with audiences and actors.

Born in Artvin, Al trained as an actor before stepping in front of the camera. Early credits include Kurtlar Vadisi Pusu and, in 2012, the film Fetih 1453, in which he played an Ottoman warrior. His turning point was Diriliş: Ertuğrul, shown on TRT 1 from 2014 to 2019; he kept the same hero in Kuruluş: Osman (2019-2021) and left that series when the character was killed off in 2021. Later he played Adsız Bey in Kudüs Fatihi Selahaddin Eyyubi (2023) and Şamil Bey in Mehmed: Fetihler Sultanı.

Of Meskhetian Turkish origin, Al said in 2022 that the testimonies of witnesses to the Meskhetian exile should be recorded. He married in 2019, with President Erdoğan acting as a witness at the ceremony. In summer 2026 he visited Alanya with director Sedat İnci.
