Fırat Tanış — Biography

Nuri Fırat Tanış was born on 5 May 1975 in Istanbul and is of Meskhetian (Ahıska) descent. He took up theatre in 1991 while a student at Fikirtepe Mehmet Bayazıd High School, earning acting prizes at Istanbul's inter-school theatre competitions. He entered the Theatre Department of the Istanbul University State Conservatory in 1994, graduated in 1998, then spent some time with the City Theatre and wrote a column for the newspaper Sol.

Tanış made his screen debut in 2001 with Yeditepe İstanbul and reached wide fame as Koyu Bilal in Geniş Aile, a role he reprised in its feature-film spin-offs. His later television work includes Menekşe ile Halil, Ulan İstanbul, Yeşil Deniz, İstanbullu Gelin, Kulüp, Aziz, Zeytin Ağacı and Adım Farah, while his film credits include Once Upon a Time in Anatolia, Vay Arkadaş, Karınca Kapanı, Somuncu Baba: Aşkın Sırrı and Hep Yek.

Having composed music since the age of fifteen, his songs have been recorded by artists such as Teoman, Emre Altuğ, Levent Yüksel and Gülay. Following allegations of violence and harassment made against him in 2025-2026, some of his concerts were cancelled, and in 2026 he was removed from the cast of the series Delikanlı.
