Metin Coşkun — Biography

Turkish theatre actor, director and voice actor Metin Coşkun was born in Istanbul in 1948. He began his artistic career in 1970 and, between 1980 and 1994, performed in nearly twenty plays at the Ankara Sanat Tiyatrosu; alongside private companies such as Yeni Tiyatro and Dostlar Tiyatrosu, he worked as both actor and director in more than sixty productions at the Ankara State Theatre, and in 1982 won a best actor prize from the Sanat Kurumu.

He moved in front of the camera with the 2002 series En Son Babalar Duyar, later appearing in Başka Dilde Aşk, Vay Arkadaş, Muhteşem Yüzyıl, as Belalı Naim in Suskunlar and as Hakkı Alacahan in Kara Sevda. His breakout with wider audiences came as Hikmet Derenoğlu in Masumlar Apartmanı (2020-2022); around the same time, in 2021, he won a best actor award at an independent film festival. He went on to appear in Çukur, as Yılmaz Dayı in Ömer, and as Efraim in the 2025 series Veliaht. In 2023 he was among 226 signatories of the founding declaration of the Sosyalist Güç Birliği, formed ahead of Turkey's presidential and parliamentary elections.

Their work through different eyes

Series Binger A series devotee tracking character arcs, cast chemistry and season pacing.

Metin Coşkun's television work covers both ends of the dial: comedy in Jet Sosyete, crime drama in Çukur. Setting Fazlı Bey in Jet Sosyete beside Baytar Amca in Çukur shows he can switch tone. Masumlar then places him in a heavier, psychological drama as Hikmet Derenoğlu, the part he is best known for. In my view his strength is that he gives each setting a distinct tone.

Family Viewer Asks whether the whole household can watch it; cares about humour and heart.

To watch Metin Coşkun with the family, pick comedies such as Jet Sosyete and Şansımı Seveyim, the latter a 2017 comedy starring Cem Gelinoğlu. Çukur, on the other hand, is an action-drama series set in the world of crime, so keep it for the grown-ups.
