Hakan Yakın — Biography
Hakan Yakın (b. 22 February 1977, Basel) is a former Swiss footballer of Turkish descent. In his playing career outside Switzerland he never appeared for Paris Saint-Germain and was sent off without playing a single match, made a total of 11 appearances for Stuttgart (9 in the league and two in cups) without scoring, played only 2 matches for Galatasaray, and played 15 matches for Al-Gharafa, scoring 5 goals. He coaches Swiss Promotion League side FC Schaffhausen.
Hakan wore the Switzerland national football team's jersey in nearly 50 matches and was part of the national team squad at Euro 2004. He is the brother of Murat Yakın. Hakan Yakın is also a favourite among players in the Swiss press. In his youth he was voted the best young footballer in a poll held in Switzerland. In the second Group A match of the 2008 UEFA European Championship, played between Switzerland and Turkey, he scored his team's first and only goal. The assist for the goal was provided by another player of Turkish descent, Eren Derdiyok. In the Portugal-Switzerland match at Euro 2008 he scored 2 goals and was named man of the match, leaving a good impression at Euro 2008. Furthermore, Hakan Yakın scored all of Switzerland's goals at the 2008 UEFA European Championship.
