Krista Nell — Biography

Krista Nell, born Doris Kristanel, was an Austrian model and film actress born on 21 January 1946 in Vienna. She began her career in French cinema, playing Christine in Les libertines (1970). After moving to Rome she became a familiar face in Italian genre pictures of the late 1960s and early 1970s: in spaghetti Westerns she played Brenda in Ivanhoe, the Norman Swordsman (1971), Molly in Kill Django... Kill First (1971) and Cleo in Django and Sartana Are Coming... It's the End (1970), and in the era's Italian sex comedies she appeared as Sister Martuccia in Le calde notti del Decameron and as Laura in Fratello homo sorella bona. She was the companion of actor Ettore Manni. In her final film, The Bloodsucker Leads the Dance, she was originally cast in the lead role but was reduced to a supporting part after her health declined during filming. Nell died of leukemia in Rome on 19 June 1975, at the age of twenty-nine.
