Mehmet Bozdoğan

Mehmet Bozdoğan — Biography

Mehmet Bozdoğan is a Berlin-born stage, film and television actor who works between German and Turkish screens. In Germany he is best known as the police detective Bülent Çelik in the ZDF crime series Der Kriminalist; in Turkey, after Uyanış: Büyük Selçuklu, he plays Yavuz in the 2024 series Sahipsizler. A German and Turkish citizen, he speaks standard German without an accent, along with English and Turkish.

He began his acting training in Germany, at the Transform Schauspielschule, and continued it in Turkey. His stage experience came in Berlin: he performed at venues including the Hebbel-Theater, Teatr Studio, Tiyatrom and the Diyalog TheaterFest, and worked under director Meray Ülgen at the Wupper-Theater and in Berlin.

In German film and television he first appeared almost only in tiny parts, among them Zeit der Schläfer and Wolffs Revier. Despite his accent-free German, he was often asked to play characters who speak broken German. His role as Çelik in the second and third seasons of Der Kriminalist has so far been his best-known work. In Turkey he first appeared before audiences in 2010 in the series Öyle Bir Geçer Zaman ki, and from that year on took part in films including Time You Change (2010), Zenne (2012), Gözetleme Kulesi (2012) and Macho Man (2015).
