Melike Zobu — Biography
Ayşe Melike Zobu was born on 21 March 1963 in Istanbul, into a family with deep roots: her great-grandfather was Hasan Rıza Pasha, her grandfather was Şemsettin Zobu, she is a niece of the theatre actor Vasfi Rıza Zobu, and a cousin of actress Bilge Zobu. She entered the film industry in 1978 after being chosen in a beauty pageant, and typically played tough, strong-willed characters.
She is best remembered for playing Hatice opposite Kemal Sunal in the 1986 film Deli Deli Küpeli, a role that led the press to occasionally call her "Yeşilçam's Spy Hatice." Across a career running from 1978 to 2006, she appeared in more than thirty film, television and video productions, including Derviş Bey (1978), İsyan (1979) and Yaz Bitti (1985).
In 1989 she married shipowner Hakan Kalkavan and retired from the screen two years later. The couple had two daughters, Hazal, born in 1993, and Yağmur, born in 1996; her elder daughter Hazal married businessman Mert Karahan in 2017 and went on to have three children.
