Michel Berto — Biography

Michel Berto was a French actor known for supporting parts who also worked as a theatre director. His real name was Michel Hugues Ernest Noël Bertoliatti. He took roles in about thirty productions and moved between cinema and the stage throughout his working life, as both performer and director in the theatre.

The earliest film in his listed credits is Out 1 (1971). In the second half of the 1970s he appeared in films such as Playing with Fire (1975), Zig-Zig (1975), Spoiled Children (1977), in which he played Muzard, and The Seventh Company Outdoors (1977). Around 1979 and 1980 he was in several productions, including Memoirs of a French Whore, Le Mors aux dents, Merry-Go-Round and Malevil; he played a teacher in Beau-père (1981) and took a part in Le Bon Plaisir (1984).

In his last years he worked in Dédé (1990, as Louis), Merci la vie (1991), Aujourd'hui peut-être... (1991, as Bruno), À demain (1992) and The Three Brothers (1995). He was married to the actresses Juliet Berto and Marie Berto. He died in Paris in January 1996.
