Ömer Faruk Sorak — Biography

Born in Ankara in 1964, he spent eight years behind a camera at the state broadcaster TRT after graduating from Ankara University's press and broadcasting school, gradually moving into cinematography. Running his own production house, Böcek Yapım, he built a name shooting commercials and directing music videos for a wide roster of pop and rock names, among them Teoman, Duman, Kenan Doğulu, Şebnem Ferah, Feridun Düzağaç and Hande Yener. A year after working as director of photography on Asansör, his collaboration with Yılmaz Erdoğan on Vizontele carried him into feature directing, and his filmography grew from there with widely watched titles such as G.O.R.A., Sınav, Yahşi Batı, Yahşi Çin, 8 Saniye and Bandırma Füze Kulübü. He also tried his hand at writing, publishing the book Son ki üç dört with Emre Gürcan in 2019. His standing in the industry led to a stint as jury president at the Adana Altın Koza Film Festival, and most recently he finished D.I.S.C.O. before stepping behind the camera again for the next installment of his romantic-comedy franchise.
