Yahsi Bati - The Ottoman Cowboys (Yahşi Batı)

Yahşi Batı is a Turkish comedy directed by Ömer Faruk Sorak, with Cem Yılmaz handling both the script and the lead role. Made by Böcek Yapım, it opened nationwide on January 1, 2010, and became one of the year's top-grossing domestic releases. The title plays on the familiar phrase for "wild west" by flipping its meaning.

Set toward the close of the Ottoman era, the plot centers on a covert agent sent by the sultan to hand-deliver a precious gem to the American president, accompanied by a fellow traveler. Before reaching their destination the pair are robbed of the gem by outlaws, and they turn to bounty work across the western frontier in hopes of recovering it, running into a string of odd encounters and comic mishaps along the way.

Cem Yılmaz is joined on screen by Ozan Güven, Demet Evgar, Cansu Dere, Özkan Uğur, Zafer Algöz, Uğur Polat, and Mazlum Çimen. Following its release, the film held the top box-office spot nationwide for two straight weeks, making it one of the most-watched local productions of that period.
