Demet Evgar — Biography

Demet Evgar is a Turkish stage, television, and film actress born on 19 May 1980 in Manisa. After graduating from the Theatre Department of Istanbul University State Conservatory, she co-founded the troupe Tiyatro Kılçık with friends; for her performance in the play Gece Mevsimi she won Best Supporting Actress at both the Afife Jale and Lions Theatre awards and was named Best Actress at Galatasaray University's 2006 awards. She made her television debut in 2000 with the series Yedi Numara and gained wide recognition starring opposite Emre Karayel for eight seasons in the romantic comedy 1 Kadın 1 Erkek. Her film credits include Beyza'nın Kadınları, Güneşi Gördüm, Yahşi Batı, and Sen Aydınlatırsın Geceyi; she made a guest appearance as Kara Fatma in the historical drama Vatanım Sensin before taking the lead role of Deniz in Avlu. She later appeared in the series Bahar and Alev Alev, and in the film 2 Aile Arasında. The sister of director Yiğit Evgar, she has also released music and serves as a UN Women Turkey goodwill ambassador.
