Philip Arditti — Biography

Philip Ishak Arditti, born in 1979 in Geneva, is a theatre and television actor of Sephardic Jewish background who holds Turkish, Italian and British citizenship. Raised in Istanbul, he moved to London in 1999, graduated from the Royal Academy of Dramatic Art (RADA) in 2004, and was part of the team that founded London's Arcola Theatre.

A regular performer at London's National Theatre, he appeared in England People Very Nice (2009), Blood and Gifts (2010) and Holy Rosenbergs (2011), and played Uri Savir in Oslo when the 2017 production transferred to the West End. Internationally he is best known for playing Uday Hussein in the 2008 docudrama House of Saddam, and has had guest roles in Game of Thrones and The Honourable Woman alongside film credits including Exodus: Gods and Kings, Inferno, The Danish Girl and Red 2, and television work in Borgia, Da Vinci's Demons, The White Princess and Domina. He also contributed to Turkish cinema playing Adem in Reha Erdem's Şarkı Söyleyen Kadınlar.

As of 2026, he has spoken about the upcoming second season of The Day of the Jackal, in which he stars alongside Eddie Redmayne.
