Şebnem Bozoklu — Biography
Şebnem Bozoklu was born on August 25, 1979, in Istanbul, to a family with paternal roots in Isparta and maternal roots in Siirt of Egyptian descent, and spent her childhood in Suadiye. She graduated from Kadıköy Girls' High School in 1996 and from the Theatre Department of Dokuz Eylül University's Faculty of Fine Arts in 2000, then trained as an actress at the Müjdat Gezen Art Center, finishing there in 2004 and appearing in the ensemble's productions of Hamlet and Karmakarışık. Between 2005 and 2006 she directed at Çisenti Theatre, and from 2006 to 2007 she hosted TRT's Hazır Mısınız? and worked as a soloist and puppeteer on Elma Kurdu.
She became known for playing Meliha in Canım Ailem, winning the Golden Butterfly Award for Best Comedy Actress in 2009, and her performance in the play A Streetcar Named Desire later brought her a string of stage honors between 2017 and 2019, including the Sadri Alışık, Harbiye Leo Club and Kemal Sunal Culture and Art Week awards. On screen she appeared in series such as Ulan İstanbul and the International Emmy-winning Şahsiyet, as well as the films Albüm (2016), Cebimdeki Yabancı (2018) and Yılbaşı Gecesi (2022).
