Şebnem Bozoklu — Biography
Born in Istanbul on August 25, 1979, Şebnem Bozoklu grew up in Suadiye; her father's family came from Isparta, her mother's from Siirt, with Egyptian roots. After Kadıköy Girls' High School (1996) she completed the Theatre Department of Dokuz Eylül University's Faculty of Fine Arts in 2000 and then studied acting at the Müjdat Gezen Art Center until 2004, performing in the ensemble's Hamlet and Karmakarışık. Between 2005 and 2006 she directed at Çisenti Theatre, and from 2006 to 2007 she hosted TRT's Hazır Mısınız? and worked as a soloist and puppeteer on Elma Kurdu.
She became known for playing Meliha in Canım Ailem, winning the Golden Butterfly Award for Best Comedy Actress in 2009, and her performance in the play A Streetcar Named Desire later brought her a string of stage honors between 2017 and 2019, including the Sadri Alışık, Harbiye Leo Club and Kemal Sunal Culture and Art Week awards. On screen she appeared in series such as Ulan İstanbul and the International Emmy-winning Şahsiyet, as well as the films Albüm (2016), Cebimdeki Yabancı (2018) and Yılbaşı Gecesi (2022).
