Çağlar Çorumlu — Biography

Çağlar Çorumlu is an actor who came up through the stage to become one of the best-known faces of screen comedy. Viewers know him above all as the tracksuit-wearing Şevket Hoca of Güldür Güldür Show, as Yaşar Yüksel in Jet Sosyete and as Vedat in Ayak İşleri; in 2025 he played Akif in Sekizinci Aile.

Born in Merzifon to a family of teachers, he discovered acting in the university theatre club while studying tourism and hotel management at Anadolu University. In 2000 he moved to Istanbul and attended the Müjdat Gezen Art Center's acting studio; his first professional stage was Kabare Taksim, which led to Yusuf Güdük in Yedi Numara. He worked at the Istanbul City Theatres from 2007 to 2013, then founded his own company, TiyatrOPS. His stage work earned him a 2012 Afife Theatre Award for Şark Dişçisi.

On the big screen he showed a different side beside the comedy: he drew praise as Aziz in Çağan Irmak's Prensesin Uykusu, appeared in Zeki Demirkubuz's Kader, Bulantı and Kor and in Ferzan Özpetek's Cebimdeki Yabancı, won a Sadri Alışık Award for Pek Yakında, and played Zeki Müren in Arif V 216. In Erşan Kuneri he played Altın Oran. He won Golden Butterfly awards in 2017 for Güldür Güldür Show, in 2018 for Jet Sosyete and in 2023 for Ayak İşleri, and was named Comedy Actor of the Year by GQ Türkiye in 2022.
