A.B.İ., in full Aile Bir İmtihandır (“family is a trial”), is a Turkish television series that combines drama with action. Made by OGM Pictures, it reached viewers with its first episode on ATV on January 13, 2026; episodes run about 150 minutes, and the show also reaches audiences abroad through regional broadcasters.

At its centre is Doğan, who broke away from his family after a painful event in the past and built a completely different life in İzmir as a successful surgeon. Years later he returns to his relatives for his sister's wedding, and secrets and family conflicts that had stayed buried for a long time rise to the surface; an attempted murder on the wedding night leaves him facing a past that is not over. His path crosses with a lawyer, the threats around him grow, and he has to reckon with both old truths and the mysteries that will not let go. Family, betrayal and revenge are worked through at a tense pace.

Cem Karcı directs, and the writing team is Eylem Canpolat, Deniz Gürlek, Melih Özyılmaz, Melek Seven and Ali Uygur Selçuk. Kenan İmirzalıoğlu and Afra Saraçoğlu share the leading roles, with Asude Kalebek, Sinan Tuzcu and Diren Polatoğulları also in the cast.

Through different eyes

Series Binger A series devotee tracking character arcs, cast chemistry and season pacing.

A.B.İ. opens with everything a series needs: a surgeon coming home after years away, his sister's wedding, family secrets coming to light and an attempted murder on the wedding night. Pairing Kenan İmirzalıoğlu with Afra Saraçoğlu is the most talked-about part of the show, and the dynamic between them adds interest. But episodes of about 150 minutes are genuinely long; keeping the tension equally high every week over that length is hard, and the risk of filler creeping in is big. The family, betrayal and revenge trio is a familiar formula, too. Where the story goes is something we will only see as the episodes roll on.

Action & Thriller Fan Puts pace, tension and set pieces first; little patience for slow drama.

A.B.İ. mixes action with drama, and the start is strong: an attempted murder on the wedding night, mounting threats and mysteries that will not let go. Kenan İmirzalıoğlu always delivers in roles like this. Still, a 150-minute episode is too much for me; long scenes given over to family matters can stretch the gaps between the action. If the pace drops, it may test your patience.

Family Viewer Asks whether the whole household can watch it; cares about humour and heart.

A.B.İ. may stand for Aile Bir İmtihandır, family is a trial, but it is not a series to watch with children. There is an attempted murder, threats, betrayal and revenge. It suits teenagers and adults; better not to put it on before the little ones are in bed. The episodes are very long, around 150 minutes, and take up the whole evening. The family secrets and clashes, though, may well keep the grown-ups glued to the screen.
