Nihal Koldaş — Biography
Nihal Geyran Koldaş is a Turkish actress who grew up in the theatre and also works as a director, writer, translator and dramaturg. A wide audience knows her as the mute elder sister in Masumiyet and as the servant Gönül in Bıçak Sırtı. In 2025 she played three roles in a single costume in İnsanlar Mekanlar Nesneler with Merve Dizdar, and in 2026 she left the series A.B.İ., where she played Saadet.
Her working life began on stage. In 1997, at Bilsak Theatre Studio, she devised Park Yapılmaz with Ceysu Koçak, a play built on Heiner Müller's Hamletmachine and Shakespeare's Hamlet. Directing followed: in 2003 she staged Özel Bir Gün at Tiyatro Diyez with Hale Soygazi in the lead, and in 2004 she adapted Sevim Burak's story Mut with Aylin Deveci and Gözde Saner. Her first screen appearance was in the 1989 series Cahide. She was also one of the two producers of Masumiyet (1997), with Zeki Demirkubuz. She took the lead in Umut Dağ's Kuma (2012) and appeared in films such as Çoğunluk, Mustang and Ana Yurdu, and in the series İçerde, Şahsiyet and Mahkum.
Her awards span both writing and acting: a Yunus Nadi award in 1994 for the screenplay Ebruli İstanbul, the Sinema Yazarları Derneği award for best supporting actress in 2010 for Çoğunluk, best actress at the Altın Koza festival in 2015 for Ana Yurdu, and the Afife Theatre Award for supporting actress of the year in 2022 for Nora 2.
