Belgium (Belgica) (translated)

This 2016 Belgian-French drama, inspired by a true story, follows a group of friends trying to run a bar where rock bands perform. Jo, in his late twenties, returns to the hometown he had left to make art and opens a bar called Belgica; his married brother Frank, feeling he has lost his purpose in life, joins him. Within weeks the brothers turn the bar into the city's nightlife hub, but they get carried away by its runaway momentum.

Directed by Felix van Groeningen, who co-wrote the screenplay with Arne Sierens, the film features an original soundtrack created entirely by Soulwax. It premiered at the Sundance Film Festival on 21 January 2016, where it won the directing award in the World Dramatic category, and was released in Belgium and France on 2 March 2016. The cast includes Tom Vermeir, Stef Aerts and Charlotte Vandermeersch.
