In the Shadows (original title: Im Schatten) is a 2010 German crime drama written and directed by Thomas Arslan. The film was produced by Florian Koerner von Gustorf, and its music was composed by the Norwegian composer Geir Jenssen, known as Biosphere. It premiered at the 2010 Berlin International Film Festival and opened in German cinemas on 7 October 2010.

The story begins when Trojan, just released from prison, asks his former accomplice Richard Bauer for his share of a robbery they carried out together. Bauer fobs him off with a small sum and even sends two hitmen after him. In need of money, Trojan learns through the lawyer Dora Hillmann about the idea of robbing a cash transit van; the information to be supplied by Martin Krüger, who works for the company, is the key to the plan. Trojan also persuades his old friend Nico to join the job. Meanwhile police officer René Meyer, who is involved in drug dealing, uncovers the plan by keeping Trojan and Hillmann under surveillance. After the robbery, Meyer kills Krüger and takes his share; when he breaks into Hillmann's apartment to seize her share as well, he is shot dead by Trojan. Hiding out in his forest cabin, Trojan kills the hitmen who are on his trail, but on returning to the cabin he finds the police waiting and is forced to flee, leaving the money behind.

The cast features Mišel Matičević as Trojan, Karoline Eichhorn as Dora Hillmann, Uwe Bohm as Meyer and Rainer Bock as Nico, along with David Scheller, Peter Kurth and Hanns Zischler.
