Pestalozzi's Mountain

Pestalozzis Berg (Pestalozzi's Mountain) is a 1989 biographical drama film directed by Peter von Gunten, co-produced by Switzerland, East Germany, West Germany and Italy. It is based on Lukas Hartmann's novel of the same name.

Gian Maria Volonté stars as the Swiss educator Johann Heinrich Pestalozzi, and the film concentrates on a crisis period in his life following the failure of his educational experiment. The 119-minute film premiered in competition at the 39th Berlin International Film Festival. The cast also includes Corinna Harfouch and Michael Gwisdek.
