Tale of the Three Jewels

Written and directed by Michel Khleifi, Tale of the Three Jewels is a 1995 drama that follows a young Palestinian living in the Gaza Strip who sets out to track down three missing diamonds that once belonged to a necklace. His search turns into a fable-like journey, bringing him face to face with the everyday lives of the people around him.

Shot in Arabic, the film is a co-production between Belgium, Palestine and the United Kingdom. Khleifi weaves the simple quest for the lost jewels together with the reality of life in an occupied land. The cast includes Khalifa Natour and Makram Khoury.
