The Heart of the Earth

Directed by Antonio Cuadri, El corazón de la tierra, released in English as The Heart of the Earth, is based on a screenplay the director co-wrote with Shelley Miller and Doc Comparato, adapting the novel of the same name by Juan Cobos Wilkins. A joint production between Spain, the United Kingdom and Portugal, the film features Catalina Sandino Moreno, Sienna Guillory, Philip Winchester, Bernard Hill, Joaquim de Almeida and Jorge Perugorría, with Ana Fernández and Mariana Cordero rounding out the cast. Running close to a hundred and seven minutes, it stands among the internationally co-produced historical dramas that Spanish cinema turned out during the period.
