Tough Enough

Tough Enough (German title: Knallhart) is a 2006 German drama directed by Detlev Buck, based on Gregor Tessnow's novel. After his mother splits from her wealthy partner, fifteen-year-old Michael moves with her from affluent Zehlendorf to the rough Berlin district of Neukölln. At his new school he is bullied and extorted by a gang led by Erol, and his attempts to buy them off only pull him deeper into the neighbourhood's world of crime. Oktay Özdemir plays the gang leader Erol, with Erhan Emre also among the cast. The film is a stark portrait of street life in contemporary Berlin.
