Tomris İncer — Biography

Tomris Zehra İncer was a Bulgarian-born Turkish stage, film and television actress; some sources give her birth date as 16 March 1948. She entered cinema in 1973 in Azap, headlined by Türkan Şoray, and the following year joined the İstanbul City Theatres, going on to work across theatre, film and television for more than forty years.

Her film credits include Tersine Dünya, Aylaklar, Kuşatma Altında Aşk, House of Hearts (Gönlümdeki Köşk Olmasa, 2002) and Mud, with Zer among her final screen roles, while on stage with the İstanbul City Theatres she appeared in dozens of productions including Richard III and Medea. On television she reached a mass audience as Nadide Evliyaoğlu in 1001 Nights, Şahnur Baldar in Love and Punishment and Hümeyra in Böyle Bitmesin. Besides prizes at the Ankara and Adana film festivals, she won two Sadri Alışık theatre awards and, in 2015, an honorary award from the Theatre Critics Association. Diagnosed with cancer that August, she died in Istanbul in October 2015 and was buried in Foça, the town she loved.
