The Encounter (Karşılaşma)

Karşılaşma is a Türkiye-Hungary co-production that Ömer Kavur both directed and co-wrote alongside Macit Koper, opening across Turkish theaters on December 26, 2003. As Kavur's final feature, it earned strong reviews for its meticulous construction and collected nineteen prizes from four different organizations that year, including five wins at the 40th Antalya Golden Orange festival, among them the Golden Orange for best picture.

The plot brings together two men whose paths cross amid serious illness. Sinan carries guilt over his son's death in a motorcycle crash, while Mahmut, burdened by a troubled past, is barely holding on to life; when a mutual friend is killed, Sinan begins tracking down the culprit and, in doing so, stumbles onto surprising ties to his own son.

Uğur Polat heads the cast in the lead role, supported by Çetin Tekindor, İsmail Hacıoğlu, Aytaç Arman, Necmettin Çobanoğlu, and Ani İpekkaya.
