Yasemin Ergene — Biography

Former model Yasemin Ergene, a Turkish actress, became known in the television series of the 2000s; her name is most closely tied to the character Ela Altındağ in Doktorlar. After a long absence from the screen she made short returns in 2018 and 2019, and in 2026 reports surfaced that she would appear on television again after many years.

Born in Germany, Ergene moved back to Turkey with her family at the age of three and finished school in the Şarköy district of Tekirdağ. After settling in Istanbul she enrolled at the Müjdat Gezen Art Center, where her teacher Müjdat Gezen steered her towards acting for the screen. Her first film credits were Vizontele Tuuba (2004) and Hırsız Var! (2005). On television she first played Eylül in Koçum Benim and then Ekin Serbest Teksoy in Aşk Oyunu. She shared the cast with Tarık Akan in Vizontele Tuuba and Ozan Güven in Koçum Benim. Her real breakthrough came with the role of Ela in Doktorlar, which began in 2006.

Alongside acting she graduated from the public relations department of Istanbul Bilgi University. After her marriage in 2011 she also used the name Yasemin Özilhan; on 3 September 2025 she announced herself that she had divorced. In the years since she appeared in the film Ah Be İstanbul (2018) and joined the series Mucize Doktor in 2019 as a guest, again as Doctor Ela. The actress Sevinç Kıranlı is her cousin.
