Bergüzar Korel — Biography

Bergüzar Korel is a Turkish actress best known for Şehrazat Evliyaoğlu in Binbir Gece, Feride in Karadayı and Azize in Vatanım Sensin. She has also worked as a presenter and released jazz albums. In 2026 she shares the lead with Kenan İmirzalıoğlu again, as in Karadayı, in the series A.B.İ.; she has also appeared in the film On Saniye and the series İlk ve Son.

Acting runs in her family: her father Tanju Korel and mother Hülya Darcan are both actors. She studied theatre at Mimar Sinan University's State Conservatory, played volleyball as a student, appeared in a supporting part in the State Theatre's Kuva-yi Milliye and worked with the acting coach Susan Batson. Her first series role was in Kırık Hayatlar in 1998. In 2006 she moved into film as Leyla in Kurtlar Vadisi Irak, and the same year made her real breakthrough with Binbir Gece; she was coached for that role by Ayla Algan and won the Golden Butterfly for Best Actress.

Afterwards she acted in the film Aşk Geliyorum Demez, voiced Sam in the animated film Casus Kızlar, took the lead in Bitmeyen Şarkı and guest-starred in Muhteşem Yüzyıl. Karadayı (2012-2015) brought her a second Golden Butterfly. From 2016 to 2018 she appeared with her husband Halit Ergenç in Vatanım Sensin; they have three children. She hosted a quiz show on Star TV, coached children in acting in the Yapı Kredi and TEGV project Okuyorum Oynuyorum, and released two jazz albums, in 2016 and 2020.
