Birce Akalay — Biography

Birce Akalay was born on 19 June 1984 in Istanbul. She studied theatre at Pera Fine Arts High School before graduating from the Haliç University Conservatory, where she later also taught. In 2004 she placed third in the Miss Turkey pageant and represented her country at Miss Europe, reaching the semi-finals. She then spent several years preparing and presenting sports programs on national television.

She began acting with small roles in 2007 and became widely known as Havva in the series Yer Gök Aşk. She went on to appear in Ben Onu Çok Sevdim (2013), about the Adnan Menderes era, and Küçük Ağa (2014). In 2017 she starred opposite İbrahim Çelikkol as doctor Aslı Çınar in Siyah Beyaz Aşk, a series that attracted audiences across Europe and the Americas.

That same year she made her stage debut in Yedi Kocalı Hürmüz, directed by Müjdat Gezen. In 2020 she led the Star TV series Babil while playing Zilha on stage in Keşanlı Ali Destanı. In 2022 she reunited with Çelikkol in the Netflix series Kuş Uçuşu as Lale Kıran and took the role of Önem Özülkü in the Mezarlık films.
