Can Nergis — Biography

Can Nergis is a Turkish actor who moved from modelling into acting and made his name as Chief Inspector Onur Yalçın in the police series Arka Sokaklar. In the years since he has appeared in productions such as Anne, Börü, Yasak Elma and Kağıt Ev, and in 2023 he took the lead in the TRT series Metamorfoz.

His route into acting was an indirect one. After university in London, Nergis went to the Far East with the help of his aunt, the fashion designer Neslihan Yargıcı. He worked as a model in China and Thailand, lived in Thailand for eight years, and opened a restaurant there called Shewa, which he later closed. He came back to Türkiye in 2011. His first series, Her Şeye Rağmen, ended early; he then guest-starred in Dila Hanım and joined Paşa Gönlüm in 2014. His real breakthrough came with Arka Sokaklar. After that he took parts in Maral and Tatlı İntikam, played Ali Tezel in Star TV's Anne in 2016 and Tolga Erlik in Börü in 2018. He played Mert in Yasak Elma and appeared as Vincenzo in Adanış: Kutsal Kavga in 2022.

Besides Turkish, he speaks English, Chinese, Thai and Russian. In 2017 he married the model Jelena Milosavljevic, and the couple has a daughter.
