Jacques Monod — Biography
Jacques Monod is remembered as one of French cinema's most prolific character actors, frequently cast as authority figures such as judges, prosecutors and police commissioners; he was born on 21 August 1918 in Casablanca, then part of the French protectorate of Morocco. Over a career running from 1947 to 1985 he appeared in more than a hundred films.
His best-known performances came in François Truffaut's The 400 Blows and Roman Polanski's The Tenant, and he also played judicial figures in crime and drama productions such as Two Men in Town and The Seventh Juror. Monod died in Paris on 25 December 1985.
