Paul Bisciglia — Biography
Paul Antoine Alphonse Bisciglia was born on 30 July 1928 in Algiers and made his screen debut in the 1950 film Trois télégrammes; after appearing in dramas such as the award-winning Avant le déluge during the 1950s, he moved increasingly into television in the 1960s and took his first leading role in Alain Cuniot's L'or et le plomb in 1966.
From 1969 he became a regular collaborator of director Jean Rollin, appearing in cult horror films including Requiem pour un vampire, Les démoniaques, Lèvres de sang and the zombie classic Les raisins de la mort. He reached a much wider audience in 1973 alongside Louis de Funès in Gérard Oury's comedy Papaz Kaçtı (The Mad Adventures of Rabbi Jacob), went on to appear opposite Sophia Loren in Verdict (1974), and lent his voice to three animated Asterix films.
Bisciglia appeared in more than a hundred feature films and numerous television series, among them Rocambole, Les brigades du Tigre, Commissaire Moulin and Les enquêtes du commissaire Maigret, continuing his acting career until 1999. He died on 18 April 2010 in Nanterre.
