Şebnem Hassanisoughi — Biography

Şebnem Hassanisoughi is a Turkish actress with a theatre background, a versatile performer who has worked on stage, in commercials and in music as well as in television and film. The production that put her in front of a wide audience was Vatanım Sensin; most recently she plays the medical director Aylin Borokay in Doktor: Başka Hayatta.

The first phase of her career rests on her theatre training and on small and mid-sized television parts: Sessiz Gemiler, Dantel, Annem, Kılıç Günü, Firar and Kayıp Şehir belong to this period. In the mid-2010s she continued with Tatar Ramazan, Bana Artık Hicran De and Poyraz Karayel, and her part as Eftelya in Vatanım Sensin was a threshold along that line. In cinema she appeared in Geriye Kalan, Eve Dönüş: Sarıkamış 1915, Bulantı and Kelebekler. More recently she played Şebnem Sualp in Yabani, joined the film O da Bir Şey mi in 2025 and returned to the screen in 2026 with Doktor: Başka Hayatta.

Born in Istanbul, she has a father who is a lawyer of Iranian Azerbaijani descent and a mother who is a Turkish notary; her surname means "the beautiful one's path" in Persian. She studied theatre at the Mimar Sinan Fine Arts University State Conservatory and took a master's degree in film and drama at Kadir Has University. She plays guitar, drums and harmonica. She is married to the actor Ahmet Kenan Bilgiç.
