Bebo's Girl

Bebo's Girl (Italian: La ragazza di Bube) is a 1963 Italian-French drama directed by Luigi Comencini, based on Carlo Cassola's 1960 novel of the same name. While the novel's central pair are teenagers, the film reimagines them as young adults, following the emotional journey of a woman named Mara through a turbulent chapter of her life.

Claudia Cardinale's portrayal of Mara earned her the Nastro d'Argento for Best Actress from Italy's national film critics' union, and the movie competed for the top prize at the Berlin International Film Festival before winning best production honors at the David di Donatello Awards. It reached American theaters in 1964 under the English title Bebo's Girl.
