Hababam Taburu

Hababam Taburu is a Turkish comedy film from 1975, produced and directed by Hulki Saner for Saner Film, from a screenplay by Rıfat Ilgaz, the author who also created Hababam Sınıfı. The story follows the captain and five crewmen of a Turkish cargo ship who spend their voyage playing pranks on one another. When the crew secretly change course for Casablanca, they end up in Umumba, a fictional coup-ridden country that seizes any vessel entering its waters, and their military misadventures begin. Müjdat Gezen takes the lead as "Bitirim", alongside Hulusi Kentmen, Figen Han, Altan Günbay and Baykal Kent. Despite the name, the film stands apart from Arzu Film's Hababam Sınıfı series, which began the same year.
