Guilty (Suçlu) (translated)
Suçlu is a 1960 Turkish film directed by Atıf Yılmaz, adapted for the screen from Orhan Kemal's novel of the same name, published in 1957.
The story follows Cevdet, a boy who loses his mother at an early age, after his father İhsan marries the much younger Şehnaz. Resenting the child, Şehnaz pulls him out of school and forces him to work as a street vendor; her constant false accusations drive a wedge between father and son until Cevdet finally runs away from home. The film examines childhood and the circumstances that push a child toward crime. Turgut Özatay is among the cast.
