Cevat Kurtuluş — Biography

Born M. Cevat Kurtuluş on 20 June 1922 in Ankara, he trained at the State Theatre's Theatre and Opera Department before making a name for himself in the 1940s performing impressions on nightclub stages.

He moved to Istanbul in 1947 and entered cinema the same year with Kerim'in Çilesi, his screen debut. Known for his mimicry-driven, character-based acting style, Kurtuluş became one of Yeşilçam's most prolific supporting actors through the 1960s and 1970s, appearing in films such as Köroğlu, Arım Balım Peteğim, Gönül Hırsızı, Akıllı Deliler and Pjort'lu Hoca, and taking part in well over a hundred productions over his career.

He continued acting alongside his wife, fellow performer Meral Kurtuluş, until his death in Istanbul on 6 September 1992.
