Togan Gökbakar — Biography
Son of director Osman Selçuk Gökbakar and Lerzan Gökbakar, Togan Gökbakar was born in İzmir on 29 May 1984. While a film and television student at Istanbul Bilgi University he made the short film Koş Baba Koş, which won a student-category prize at the 2004 If Istanbul and Altın Koza festivals. His first feature, the horror film Gen, in which his brother Şahan made a brief appearance, brought him the Promising Young Director award at the 13th Altın Koza Film Festival in 2006. He then turned to directing his brother in the Recep İvedik comedy franchise, alongside films such as Celal ile Ceren, Osman Pazarlama, Kayhan and Erdal ile Ece, writing the screenplay for most of them himself. He also appeared on the NTV programme Kime Diyorum Ben.
