Yeşim Salkım — Biography

Yeşim Salkım was born on 12 April 1968 in Istanbul and grew up in the Kavaklıdere district of Ankara. The daughter of musician Dursun Salkım, she comes from a family of Albanian descent on her father's side. She studied Classical Turkish Art Music at the Istanbul Technical University State Conservatory.

Her recording career began in the mid-1990s with her debut album Hiç Keyfim Yok, and songs such as Son Sigara and Ben Yoldan Gönüllü Çıktım quickly made her a recognizable name. She went on to release further albums including Ferman, Casablanca and Bizim Şarkımız, and continued performing on stage.

She made her screen debut in 1996 as Emel in Eşkıya. Her portrayal of Sevda Erses in the 2001 film Şarkıcı brought her wider recognition, and she also appeared in productions such as Vizontele. On television she acted in series including Fosforlu Cevriye, Ateş Dansı, Seher Vakti, Sessiz Gemiler, Huzur Sokağı and Kocamın Ailesi.

In later years she took roles in the series Evlat Kokusu, İstanbullu Gelin and Arıza, and in films such as Serçenin Gözyaşı and Türkler Çıldırmış Olmalı 2: Mavi Vatan; in 2026 she returned to the big screen with Mitoloji Mafyası.
