Yurdaer Okur — Biography

Yurdaer Okur was born on 29 October 1974 in Rize, to a Georgian-Laz family that had migrated from Perşembe, Ordu. After Bafra Süper Lisesi he spent three years studying tourism management at Akdeniz University, then moved to the theatre department of the Hacettepe University State Conservatory in 1994 and completed a master's degree at Mimar Sinan University.

In 1999 he joined Genco Erkal's Dostlar Theatre, joined the Istanbul State Theatre, and was appointed to the Diyarbakır State Theatre in 2002, where he also directed plays and taught drama to young people. He made his screen debut in the series Ferhunde Hanımlar, his film debut with Sır Çocukları in 2002, and took part in his first international production with the French-Turkish film Chemins d'O in 2004. He played roles in Karadayı (2012) and Hakan: Muhafız (2018), Balgay in Kuruluş Osman (2019), Ahmet Çınarlı in Kefaret (2020), and Tuğrul Bozan in Alparslan: Büyük Selçuklu (2021), and appeared in the films Direniş: Karatay (2018), Yedinci Koğuştaki Mucize and Bilmemek (2019).
