Büşra Pekin — Biography

Elif Büşra Pekin was born on 30 June 1982 in Saudi Arabia, where her family lived because of her father's job; her mother is from Ankara and her father from an Istanbul family that had emigrated from Thessaloniki. She spent her childhood between Saudi Arabia and İzmir, finished high school at Arkansas's Lake Side High School in the United States, and graduated from the theatre department of Dokuz Eylül University's Faculty of Fine Arts in 2005. Her first on-camera role came as a guest part in a series in 2002; she joined the BKM Mutfak ensemble in 2005 and gained wide recognition through her characters on the 2008-2010 sketch show Çok Güzel Hareketler Bunlar, for which she also wrote some of the sketches. She made her film debut in Kutsal Damacana (2007) and won the SİYAD award for best supporting actress for her role in Yılmaz Erdoğan's Neşeli Hayat. After films such as Mutlu Aile Defteri, İtirazım Var, Benim Adım Feridun and Kolonya Cumhuriyeti, and series including Muhteşem Yüzyıl, she took the title role in 2022's Dilberay, based on singer Dilber Ay's life, and also appeared in Yılbaşı Gecesi that year. In April 2026 she was detained in a narcotics investigation; she said her test came back negative and was released under a travel ban as part of judicial supervision.
